04/09/14 : Ganpati Celebration – The school celebrated Ganpati festivities on 4^th September’14. In the morning ‘Aarti’ was conducted and the students took ‘darshan’ classwise, throughout the day. ‘Clay Ganesha idols were displayed. Evening ‘Aarti’ was followed by the visarjan in the midst of singing, dancing and music.

04/09/14: Neck are Training – ‘An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure’. Neck care recommendations were given by physiotherapist Dr.Neha Gupta on reventing neck problems in the future. This training for the staff of Birla School gave insight on the ways to prevent and treat the disorders.

05/09/14: Teacher’s Day – On the occasion of Teacher’s Day i.e.5^th september’14, the school alumni were invited alongwith Std.XI & XII students to be the ‘Teacher for the day’. It was an enriching experience for the alumni. The staffs were felicitated on their special day by Mrs.Santoshji Chitlange. A programme of song and dance was presented by the students to convey their heartfelt gratitude to all their beloved teachers.

09/09/14 & 10/09/14: Blissful Benevolence – The school organized ‘Inter School Cultural & Literary Competitions’ with the theme ‘Share & Care Lets Spread Joy ……..’ for two days. The first day included ‘Literary Events’ & second day included ‘Cultural Events’. The following are the details –

The events witnessed the participation of 21 schools from in and around Kalyan and Thane. Eminent judges namely Mr.Pranab Mukherjee (Grand Quiz Master) Shri.Pavitra Bhatt,  Smt. Shresha Kulkarni, Shri. Honsodnya Tambe, Shri. Shridhar Kelkar graced the occasion and also guided the students with their encouraging words.

10/09/14: B.K.Birla Centre for Education organized an Inter School Competition at Talegaon. The following students won prizes and made us proud –

11/09/14 to 14/09/14: Akshay Kumar 6^th Invitational Kudo Championship (2014) was organized by Kudo International Federation India (KIFI) under the leadership of Sashihan Mehul Vora at Games hall, SRBKS, Andheri Sports complex from 11^th September’14 to 14^th September’14. Jeet Shah of Std.IX – C won 3^rd place and received Bronze medal for (KUMITE) fight.

11/09/14: One day workshop on classroom teaching on Maths – Mrs. Kirti Saini and Mrs.Chhaya Chaudhari attended a workshop organized by Scholastic Education International (Singapore) Pvt. Ltd. At Four Point Sheraton, Navi Mumbai – Vashi on 11^th September’14. The speaker Dr.Duria Aziz, Sr.President – International Education Scholastic gave trips on how to make classroom teaching of Mathematics playful and fun and it emphasized more on development of Mathematical thinking.

11/09/14: Drawing Competition – The pre-primary students participated in the drawing competition with great zest and zeal. The topics were as follows – Jr.Kg – My Favourite Animal , Sr.Kg – Festivals.

The  art work was very creatively presented by our little piceasos!

12/09/14: Object Talk Competition – Jr.kg students participated in the Object Talk Competition on 12^th September’14. The children spoke on various objects used by them. They spoke very well. Good job done kiddos!

12/09/14: India Theatre Olympiad – All India Classical and Folk Dance Competition organised by Utkal Yuva Sanskrutik Sangh at Cuttack (Orissa) took place on 12^th September’14 Khushi Kailas Goplani – Std VII of the Dance Troupe Srujan Nrutya Sanstha Tipanee Nrutya – Gujrathi Folk participated in the Group Folk Dance of Jr. Group and justified her histrionic talent. Congratulations!

12/09/14: India Theatre Olympiad – All India Drama& Music Competition – International Theatre Festival took place on 12^th September’14 at Cuttack (Orissa). Our Dance teacher Mrs.Sujata Joshi received the National Nritya Bhushan Award – 2014  Plaque of Honour for the outstanding performance and excellence service to the promotion for the heritage of Indian performing Arts in the field of Classical Dance & Bharatnatyam & Kathak. Congratulations!

13/09/14: Grand Parents Day – Jr.Kg students celebrated Grandparents’ Day on 13^th September’14 with great pomp and show. They had put up great performances for their dear Grandparents to make the day special for them. A student recited a poem taught by her grandmother with great elan. Children sang ‘Naani Teri Morni’ and ‘Re Mamma Re Mamma Re’ with tone of innocent and mesmerised their grandparents. Their dance on the song ‘Uthey Sabke Kadam Tara Rum Pum Pum’ left the Grandparents spellbound with emotions. The grandparents played games and also won many prizes.

14/09/14: Creating a Mathematician – On 14^th September’14 Mr.Ramesh Motiramani and Mr.Deepak Balani of the Maths Department along with 20 students from Std – VI & VII (Junior Group) & Std.IX (Senior Group) participated in an event named ‘Creating a Mathematician’ organised by Holy Angel’s School and Junior College in Dombivili the students participated in various competitions like Maths Puzzle , Quiz & Maths Rockening. Maths models & charts were displayed in the Maths exhibition which was a part of the event. This programme based on Mathematics was very informative. There were around 1600 participants in the whole event.

15/09/14: Hindi Divas Celedration – On 15^th September’14 ‘Hindi Divas’ was celebrated in the presence of the staff and students of school from 8:30 am to 10:00 am. Students from Std.I to VIII actively participated to make this event successful. Colourful charts with ‘Hindi Suvidhars’ were beautifully made by students and displayed in the whole school. Students got an opportunity to learn a lot from the programme which included ‘Importance of Hindi’, ‘Poem , ‘Stories’ , ‘Speech’ etc Under the guidance of Hindi department the whole programme was organised.

16/09/14: Vegetable Day – Pre Primary students celebrated Vegetable Day on 16^th September’ 14. They were told to get one vegetable and give information about it. A role – play of acting as vegetables vendors and selling vegetables in the vegetable market was done stunningly by the tiny-tots of Sr.Kg. The spectators were Sr.Kg and Jr.kg students. 18/09/14: NSO Exam – Students from Std.III to XII participated in the National Science Olympiad 2014 on 18^th September’14

18/09/14 & 19/09/14: Dance Competition (Sr.Kg) – The Sr.Kg students participated in large numbers for the dance competition held on 18^th & 19^th September’14. They lit up the dance floor with their colourful clothes, peppy dance numbers, variety of props, steps, innocent expressions, vibrant energy, superb make-up. The excitement and enthusiasm of the participants and their parents made the events very grand and entertaining.

22/09/14: Electronic I-Card scanner – 6 Electronic I-Card scanners were mounted in the reception area and new building of the school to mark their attendance in the school.

22/09/14: Painting Competition – An ‘Energy Conservation’ painting competition for National Campaign for classes IV , V & VI was conducted by NTPC on 22^nd September’14. Students were given the following topics – 1) Save energy , Secure your future    2) Conserve Energy for brighter future

3) Save Electricity to illuminated more homes and had to choose any 1 topic for the campaign / competition

23/09/14: Field Trip – Std.IV students were taken for a field trip to Murbad Road (Behind Tabor Ashram) to observe the depletion of soil. The field trip through light upon soil erosion, disturbance of environmental cycle and importance of trees.

24/09/14 – 28/09/14: Art Grade Exam – Directorate of Art, Maharashtra State Government of Maharashtra Drawing Grade Examination, 2014 annually held for the purpose of awarding certificates and prizes were held this year on the following dates –

26/9/14: Seminar for staff – A seminar for the staff of the Birla School was organised by Indus Health Plus on 26^th September’14. The seminar focused on preventive Health check ups as they are the only means of detecting any illness or impending health problems for timely treatments to lead a long disease – free life. This seminar guided the Teachers to Reap The Benefits of prevention to the maximum!

26/9/14: One Day Workshop – Mrs.Latha Alex & Mrs,Chhaya Chaudhari attended a one day workshop organised by Oxford University Press at Bombay Presidency International School at Mulund on 26/09/14. Speaker Mr.Jose Paul – Executive Director – Educational Planning Group – St. Xaviers’ School & Delhi Founder member & co-ordinator of this voluntary group explained the key aspects of concept building, drill and activity based learning applicable in classroom situation. Also various methodology to learn mathematical concepts were taught.

26/9/14: Field Trip to ‘Reliance Fresh’ – Children of the pre-primary section i.e Jr.Kg section & Nursery A & B were taken to a Departmental store – ‘Reliance Fresh’ for field trip to have the experience of learning outside classroom. As an icing on the cake they also received return gifts of ‘Cadbury Diary Milk Chocolate’

27/09/14: Monoacting Competition – 54 students from Sr.Kg A & B participated in the Monoacting Competition on 27^th September’14. Their acts on environmental issues giving away social messages were very heart rendering  & inspiring. Topics such as ‘Save Trees’ , ‘Eye Donation’ , ‘Child Labour’ gave us an insight as to what our future generation holds in store for the world in days to come.

29/09/14: New Medical Initiatives – We feel great satisfaction & proud in announcing that Birla School, Kalyan has officially tied up with a multispecialty Hospital ‘Aayush’ in Khadakpada for attending medical emergencies. Also a full time Nurse has been appointed in the school to immediately provide the essential first-aid facilities in time of medical emergencies.

30/09/14: Green Day – Green Day was celebrated by the pre-primary section on 30^th September’ 14. The classrooms were decorated with green coloured items and decorations Sr.Kg section did ‘Tree Plantation Drive’ wherein each child got a medicinal plant to school. The activities of Leaf Printing on Head gear – Sr.Kg & Hand Fan Making (Origami) – Jr.Kg were enjoyed thoroughly by the tiny tots.

30/09/14: The following club activities were conducted – A visit to Durgadi Fort by Nature & Heritage club.  2) A survey on eco-friendly sources were also conducted.
