NEWSLETTER –FEBRUARY 2016

ANNUAL DAY –PRIMARY SECTION

The School celebrated its 18th annual day function at Century Rayon Club, Shahad on 6th February, 2016.

 

The Chief Guest Mr. S.M. Sanklecha, Executive President (Purchase), Century Rayon and the guest of honour Mr. E. Ravendiran, KDMC Commissioner graced the occasion. Lighting of the lamp by the delegates marked the inauguration of the musical extravaganza. The Principal, Mrs. Ranjna Jangra presented the annual report tracking the progress, major events and achievements of the school throughout the year.

 

This was followed by the Prize distribution ceremony. The delegates felicitated the outstanding students and the all-round performers of the school. They also felicitated the parents for their achievements in their respective fields. The Chief Guest and guest of honour expressed their views by addressing the gathering. The cultural programme with

`Wings of freedom’ as the theme included various programmes like singing, dance, drama, yoga and instrumental performances.

 

The elegant and magnificent yogic exercises performed by the students mesmerized the audience. The most riveting performance was

`The inspirational life’ which won an unceasing applause from the audience. On the whole, the show, which was the fruit of many hours of tireless work, was a great success. The programme rose to the finale with the singing of the National Anthem.

 

ISA ACTIVITY-CULTURAL EXCHANGE THROUGH SKYPE

 

A collaborative activity was recently organized by Birla School, Kalyan for its seventh grade students and the students of Elizabeth Forward School in the US. The activity was mainly to have a valuable cultural exchange on the popular dance forms of India, US, China and Italy. For this, a Skype session was planned and conducted between the schools. Our students showcased different mudras used in Bharatnatyam to the students of the US. Their students also performed tap dance and an exchange of information on their cultures took place between them. Birla School students then exhibited their leadership skills by making power point presentations to their co- students and parents. They also made projects and scrapbooks by compiling the information they collected. Overall the project was very enthralling for the students, parents, and teachers. Such activities help in developing many skills in students to make them better global citizens.

 

OBJECT TALK COMPETITION

Nursery students participated in Object Talk Competition on February 10, 2016, and February 11, 2016, respectively.  The objective of this competition was to give them their first stage for public speaking and to help them overcome the stage fear.  Students participated in this competition with enormous zeal and were pleased to deliver their learning on stage.

YELLOW DAY

Yellow Day was celebrated by Pre-Primary Department on February12, 2016. To make the Yellow Day more interesting, all the students came in yellow-coloured dress and brought yellow-colored objects.  Classrooms were also decorated with pictures and objects that were yellow in colour.  Children spoke a few lines about their favourite object that they had brought. Teachers told about the importance of yellow colour and showed different objects of yellow colour. Students participated in different class activities. Yellow Day celebration was a fun-filled day for the students.

CLASS PRESENTATION:

 

Class presentation for Pre-primary Department was held in the Assembly Area on February 16, 2016, and February 17, 2016, respectively that showcased individual talent. Every child of the class got an opportunity to face the audience in a long ensemble of dances, songs, cultural presentations, skits, etc. Parents were thrilled as they watched their little angels perform dances and skits dressed in colourful attire and props.  It was a wonderful moment for all of us watching the Tiny Stars performing on stage with enthusiasm and confidence. The toddlers and tiny tots portrayed love, peace, togetherness and patriotism through their innocent actions and expressions.

 

EXPLORIA:

Pre-Primary Department’s Exploria was on February 27, 2016.  The main purpose was to display the active-based learning.  It was also to facilitate in nourishing the children’s thoughts, imagination and also to develop their talents. Teachers were actively involved in helping the kids to display their best. We had a great inflow of Parents, and they all appreciated the work of students and teachers.

 

NATIONAL SCIENCE DAY CELEBRATIONS:

National Science day was celebrated with a galore of activities which were planned for a week and were successfully implemented .The following activities were conducted from 22.2.2016 to 27.2.2016

Day 1- Monday 22.2.2016

 “Tell me Why” questions were asked by the teacher in the assembly and students were told to write the answers and drop them in the drop box. The answers were checked by the teachers and names of the students who gave maximum number of right answers were announced in the assembly the next day.

Day 2- Tuesday 23.2.2016

Std VII students put up a skit on “Abolishing superstitions “in the assembly. The aim of the skit was to develop scientific attitude amongst the students.

Day 3- Wednesday 24.2.2016

Teachers of our school staged a skit on “Science in everyday life” and students were asked to observe and state the scientific principles applicable.

Scientists on the go: Students of the primary section dressed up like scientists and spoke about their discoveries and inventions. It was very interesting to see small kids replicating the image of great scientists.

Day  4- Thursday 25.2.2016

Science Quiz “COSMOS” was conducted for students of VI to IX in the assembly. There were four rounds – General round, Identify the Noble Laureate, Buzzer round and Rapid fire round. All the rounds were very interesting and students took active part in it. The quiz was conducted by our class XII student, Master Vedant Prasannkumar.

Day 5- Saturday 27.2.2016

 Exhibition “ Exploria” was organized in the school. Students from class I to IX participated enthusiastically. In all, there were 143 Science projects. The projects were made from environment friendly materials. There were best out of waste models, energy conservations projects and innovative applications of technology models. The students explained the principle and the utility of the projects to the visitors as well as judges very enthusiastically. There were class wise distributions of various projects in the different rooms allotted. Students from primary section had displayed different models based on the themes taught in their respective classes. A special dark room was arranged with the ambience of space for a project on NASA in which students explained the working of PSLV and the details of astronauts. 57 exhibits were displayed on concepts and 36 games and puzzles were put up for Maths exhibition. Games and puzzles section in Maths was enjoyed by the parents .The Judges appreciated the efforts of the students, teachers and the parents.

National Science Day celebrations further reinforced the importance of Science and successfully brought out the scientific fervor in the students, teachers and the parents in a way which was enjoyable as well as enriching.
